Enjorlas:
Let's get down to business,
to salute Lamarque.
Are all of France's people,
living in the dark?
You're the finest friends I ever knew,
but surely some of you will die.
When we look the king's guard
in the eye.
We'll take each chair, each table,
build a barricade.
Turn around this country,
with our grand crusade.
When the battle rings with cannon fires,
and our men are standing high,
We will look the king's guard
in the eye.
Gavroche:
We'll never just run and hide!
Courfeyrac:
Say good-bye to all my ladies!
Marius:
Fight here with my friends, or find my love divine?
Joly:
I think that I've caught the flu.
Eponine:
Hope nobody sees right through me!
Grantaire:
Now I really wish I'd had another wine!
ABC:
Vive la France!
Enjolras:
We have to rally the nation's people!
ABC:
Vive la France!
Enjolras:
And show the way that France ought to be.
ABC:
Vive la France!
Enjolras:
We'll stand our ground when they come to stop us,
And after that day, we'll finally be free!
Time is racing toward us,
'Til the guards attack.
load your ammunition
so we can fight back!
Are you ready for the rage of war?
For the battle, now, is nigh!
Now we look the king's guard
in the eye.
ABC:
Vive la France!
Enjolras:
We have to rally the nation's people!
ABC:
Vive la France!
Enjolras:
And show the way that France ought to be.
ABC:
Vive la France!
Enjolras:
We'll stand our ground when they come to stop us,
And after today, we'll finally be free!
Literature
Enjolras
Bright eyes shining
As he encourages his people
The fatal battlecry
"Long live the Republic!"
Flows like blood through
War-torn Rue de la Chanvrerie.
Hands uplifted, reaching for a better future
Through gunpowder smoke and grime.
The last barricade is crushed
The tavern, the last haven,
Shelters the dead and dying.
He alone is unscathed
As the first ignoble King's soldiers
Break down the door and surround him.
At first, his hopeless defiance repels them--
They move back, unable to shoot.
He stands, backed against the brick wall
--no escape, but that is not his wish.
"Fire!" calls the guilty voice
And bullets pierce his hear
Literature
Jehan Prouvaire
On his knees
And forced to be blind
Breathing copper air
He makes no pleas
To those left behind
Brave Jehan Prouvaire
He lived for revolution
And spoke words of gold
Blood covers clothes and hair
He was part of the solution
Believed what he was told
Word master Jehan Prouvaire
He shouts as if confessing
Before the coming night
The break his stride was a dare
To deny what he's professing
Knew that he was in the right
Noble Jehan Prouvaire
A shot rang out
as if angels sing
The executioner does not care
The dead man's friends shout
and the echoes ring -
the final words of Jehan Prouvaire

Hi! This is for the Mizzie Lyric Contest at the LesMiserablesLovers group. lesmiserableslovers.deviantart… Singing the tune with these lyrics is suggested. If you don't know the song, Make a Man out of You, here's a link to it on YouTube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSS5dE…
WARNING: You must know the friends of the ABC decently well from the book to get some of the lyrics. (ex. Joly, Grantire, Courfeyrac)
Anyhoo, I wanted to show my sister, ThisBirdTooHasFlown. thisbirdtoohasflown.deviantart… She came in, and started helping polish a few lyrics that were off beat or not quite right. So, thanks for that, sis! I was originally going to do a 60's song, like Mrs. Brown, you've got a lovely daughter, by Herman's Hermits, or You Won't See Me by the Beatles, but this song popped into my head, and it all just clicked. so YAY!
Hope you enjoy!
